This kitchen performs not only as an efficient hard-working kitchen for a family of four but has the ability to transform into a venue for formal entertaining and regular evening concert performances. Although the kitchen furniture and Bianca Carrara marble countertops inspire traditional imagery, the layout and minimalist detailing reflect the homeowner's strong contemporary aesthetic.
The flexibility of the design allows for alternate layouts by moving a portion of the 18'-0" long marble island with the help of a custom hydraulic lift system and relocating to suit the type of use intended. Specific requirements for high efficiency throughout resulted in selecting only the most energy and water efficient appliances, high efficiency ceramic metal halide and LED lighting, and sophisticated systems controls resulting in potential energy load reductions of up to 30%.
